Kuşçular, in the Urla district of İzmir, is a unique area known for its exceptional grape-growing conditions.
Thanks to this favourable setting for viticulture, Urla has been known for wine production since antiquity. Settled particularly by the Ionians in ancient times, the region also became renowned for winemaking during the Roman and Byzantine periods. In the Ottoman era, the vineyards of Urla and its surroundings continued as an important centre of wine production.
Today, viticulture in Urla Kuşçular continues sustainably through a combination of traditional methods and modern techniques. The climate and soils support both traditional Turkish grape varieties and internationally known French varieties. Urla’s viticultural past inspires producers to maintain their attachment to these lands and respect for traditional methods.
Our winery began operating under the name D-VIN URLA at the location of our vineyard: Kuşçular Köyü Camiatik Mahallesi, Yabangülü Sokak No:18, Urla, İzmir. It was established to make boutique wines from the region’s valuable wine grapes.
Our wines, made from grapes grown where history, culture and nature intersect, tell a story in every sip: years of experience, nature’s simplicity and our family’s labour. Our aim is not merely to be a wine brand, but to convey to wine lovers a passion born of life, nature and human effort.
The “D” in our name represents the first letter of our family surname, a symbol of our love for the land and its riches across generations. Combined with “VIN”, French for wine, it forms D-VIN (Devin), a play on words telling the story behind every bunch of grapes shaped for centuries by the divine movement of earth, water, sun and wind in nature’s purest form. With its connotations of inner strength and ultimate wisdom or energy, Devin emphasises that wine production is a journey rather than a final goal.
The name D-VIN URLA reflects our wish to convey the divine energy of these lands and our family’s culture and passion to wine lovers. It is about more than wine: celebrating a heritage, a divine connection and life itself to create an experience beyond time.
